Maison Grand Place Studio 5 Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Maison Grand Place Studio 5 on Rue Chair et Pain, you immediately know you’ve hit the jackpot location-wise. I mean, the name of the street literally translates to “Flesh and Bread Street” — how wonderfully Belgian is that? This four-star property sits right in the thick of things, and honestly, you can’t get much more central in Brussels than this. The building itself has that classic European charm you’d expect, tucked into the historic fabric of the city center.

The Heart of Brussels

What really struck me about this place is how genuinely central it is — we’re talking about a location score of 9.6, which actually makes sense when you’re staying here. The Grand Place is literally around the corner, and you know what? You’ll find yourself popping back to your room between sightseeing just because it’s so easy. Couples seem to get this especially well (they rate the location 9.5), probably because there’s something romantic about being able to stroll to all those gorgeous guild houses and then duck into a cozy café without any planning.

The Studio Experience

The studio setup works really well for the space they’re working with. You’re not getting a massive apartment, but everything feels thoughtfully arranged — sort of like staying in a well-designed city pied-à-terre. The fact that it’s called “Studio 5” suggests there are others in the building, which actually adds to that authentic Brussels living experience rather than feeling like a sterile hotel. I appreciated how they’ve managed to fit everything you need without it feeling cramped.

Neighborhood Gems

Being on Rue Chair et Pain puts you right in the medieval heart of Brussels, where the streets still follow their original patterns from centuries ago. You’ll discover that some of the city’s best chocolate shops and traditional brasseries are basically on your doorstep — I’m talking about places locals actually go, not just tourist traps. The morning walk to grab coffee becomes this little adventure through cobblestone streets that haven’t changed much since the Middle Ages. Plus, if you need to get anywhere else in the city, the central train station is close enough that you can reach it on foot.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.5 rating really reflects what you get here — solid comfort in an absolutely unbeatable location. It’s the kind of place where you spend less time in your accommodation and more time exploring, but when you do come back, everything works as it should. The combination of being steps from the Grand Place while still feeling like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than a generic hotel really hits the sweet spot. Honestly, for couples especially, there’s something special about being able to experience Brussels this intimately — you’re not just visiting the city center, you’re actually staying in it.

Reviews of Maison Grand Place Studio 5

  • Awesome!!! – Luciana from Argentina – 31 May 2025 (10/10)

The kitchen was fully equipped, the bathroom is spacious, and the city view is amazing. Communication with the host was smooth and easy.

What could be improved: There were many stairs to climb to get there.

  • Perfect location and walking distance to city center attractions – Abi from Malaysia – 25 October 2024 (8/10)

Location was great and the instructions to get the keys were perfect. Very secure.
A little noisy and bright but the curtains were blackout and the host provided earplugs graciously.

What could be improved: Was slightly confused as to the entrance. Managed to collect the keys but there was a small detail missing to go to the other entrance. But managed to find my way and it was easy after that.
Was not aware there were no lifts, only narrow stairways to carry bags up and down. Possibly common for Brussels.

  • Good – Joan from United Arab Emirates – 27 September 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: Too many stairs

    Great location very centralized

What could be improved: The inconvenience to get to room, having to go through dining area to get to the room and bit of stair maze. Also a bit noisy at night with the plaza but its a trade off having a view to it.
