Holiday Inn Express Brussels-Grand-Place by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to the Holiday Inn Express Brussels-Grand-Place by IHG on Rue du Cypres, you immediately get that “I’m in the right spot” feeling. This three-star property sits right in the thick of things — I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Grand Place, which honestly still takes my breath away every time I see it. The building itself has that classic Brussels charm without trying too hard, and the entrance feels welcoming rather than intimidating.
Location Magic
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can stumble out of bed and be at the Manneken Pis before your morning coffee kicks in. The Brussels city center spreads out around you like your personal playground, with the Royal Galleries and all those incredible chocolate shops practically on your doorstep. What really surprised me was how quiet the street actually is, considering you’re smack in the middle of everything. Couples seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.3, and honestly, I can see why when you’re wandering those cobblestone streets hand in hand.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from Holiday Inn Express — clean, functional, and surprisingly comfortable. Nothing fancy, but everything works perfectly, and the bed was actually really good (which matters more than people think when you’re doing a lot of walking around the city). The bathroom was compact but well-designed, and I appreciated having enough space to spread out my stuff without feeling cramped. You know what I really liked? The blackout curtains actually worked, which is a blessing when those summer nights stretch on forever.
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast setup here is pretty impressive for a three-star place. They’ve got continental options, but also vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices — basically, they’ve thought about everyone. The buffet runs smoothly even when it gets busy, and if you’re rushing off to catch a train or tour, you can grab breakfast to go. There’s also private parking at the hotel, which is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving in Brussels — trust me, you don’t want to be hunting for street parking in this area.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gets the fundamentals right without any pretense. You’re paying for location and reliability, and that’s exactly what you get. The staff seems genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, and there’s something refreshing about a hotel that knows what it is and does it well. When you’re spending your days exploring Brussels’ incredible architecture, museums, and restaurant scene, you want a comfortable base that doesn’t eat up your budget — and this delivers on that promise perfectly.

What could be improved: no complaints.Daria from Cyprus – 22 May 2025 (8/10)
Perfect location – quiet and clean, but within walking distance to a tram/metro stop and to major attractions. The room and bathroom was well equipped.
What could be improved: A mini fridge would be a good addition to the room.Marko from Austria – 20 May 2025 (8/10)
Very good hotel at central location. Fair business breakfast.
What could be improved: Value-price ratio is not appropriate. Very late check in is not always convenient.Janina from Romania – 2 May 2025 (9/10)
Good location, very cosy and good breakfast.
Irma from United States – 29 April 2025 (9/10)
Breakfast was not the best, but not the worst. The croissants were very, very good and the coffee machine with all those different coffees was very nice as well. It’s convenient to have a little bit of something before you go out for the day.
What could be improved: Everything was nice, beds were comfortable. Nice big walk in shower. Nothing spectacular but I think pretty much you get what you pay for price was right ..The only thing housekeeper needs a little bit more training. They never left enough towels, and there was two of us in the room, one day we didn’t have the wash towels another day. I had to dry myself with a hand towel because they only left one large towel….
I’m sure if I would’ve called they would’ve brought one up, but it was too late. I was already in the shower when I noticed.Yelda from Netherlands – 21 April 2025 (9/10)
Location is perfect. Simple and convenient rooms for short stay. We stayed for the weekend, and it met with our expectations. The room was quiet. Breakfast is okay. Luggage storage was convenient. I would stay again
What could be improved: No big complaints. No safebox in the room but I have read it in advance and came prepared.Jfs from Switzerland – 19 April 2025 (8/10)
Location is great near to a lot of tourists spots.
Good breakfast and quiet placeIliyan from Bulgaria – 13 April 2025 (9/10)
Excellent location for my trip. Very good breakfast, friendly staff, clean room.
What could be improved: Nothing to admit.Lennon from United Kingdom – 26 March 2025 (9/10)
Very helpful staff. Good, clean room with the option to watch YouTube on the TV which was a lovely addition after sleeping in hostels for the week until this point. Had a great time here.
What could be improved: Nothing really, except the fan in the bathroom didn’t go off.
