When I first pulled up to Brussels Base Camp, I’ll admit I was a bit confused — it’s tucked away on Romeinsesteenweg in what feels more like a residential area than a typical hotel district. But you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its biggest charms. This four-star property has this understated, almost boutique-like presence that immediately made me feel like I’d discovered something locals might keep to themselves. The private parking right on site was honestly a relief, especially after navigating Brussels traffic.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about staying a bit outside the city center — you get the best of both worlds. Brussels Base Camp sits in a quieter neighborhood where you can actually hear yourself think, but you’re still well-connected to everything that matters. I found the tram connections surprisingly efficient for getting into the heart of Brussels, and there’s something nice about returning to this peaceful pocket after a day of sightseeing. The area has a few local cafes and shops within walking distance, which gave me a glimpse of everyday Belgian life beyond the tourist zones.

The Room Experience

My room had this clean, modern vibe that felt both comfortable and functional — sort of like staying in a well-designed apartment rather than a traditional hotel. The space was thoughtfully laid out with plenty of room to spread out, which I really appreciated after cramped city hotels elsewhere. What struck me most was how quiet everything was; thick walls and good windows meant I could barely hear the street below. The bathroom was spotless and well-equipped, though nothing overly fancy — just solid, reliable amenities that worked perfectly.

Service & Atmosphere

The staff at Brussels Base Camp genuinely seemed to care about making your stay work smoothly. They weren’t hovering or overly formal, but when I needed recommendations or had questions about getting around, they offered practical, honest advice. I mean, they actually steered me away from a tourist trap restaurant and pointed me toward a fantastic local spot instead. The whole atmosphere feels relaxed and unpretentious — it’s clear why couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways, since there’s this intimate, cozy feeling throughout the property.

Honestly, Brussels Base Camp works because it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. You’re getting solid comfort, genuine hospitality, and that rare combination of peace and accessibility that’s hard to find in most city hotels. The private parking alone saves you both money and stress, while the residential location gives you a more authentic taste of Brussels life. It’s the kind of place where you can have a proper conversation at breakfast without shouting over crowds, then easily hop into the city when you’re ready to explore. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having your own quiet retreat to return to each evening.

  Byt je prostorný, čistý, světlý. Jedna ložnice má dvojlůžko se skříní, druhá ložnice má 2 oddělená lůžka. Další možnost přespání je dole ( byt je dvojposchoďový) v obývacím prostoru, kde jsou 2 gauče. Kuchyň je zcela vybavena. Ochotně nám byla poskytnuta i rychlovarná konvice. Je zde i mikrovlnná trouba, pečící trouba, sporák, lednice, myčka. Dvě toalety, což je velmi příjemné, jedna je v přízemí, druhá v patře vedle prostorné světlé koupelny s dvěma umyvadly a vanou. Teplá voda nebyla žádný problém po celou dobu pobytu a to jsme zde byly 4 ženy 🙂 Komunikace s majitelem i s osobou na předání klíčů probíhala vždy na velmi dobré úrovni přes whatsapp. Pár metrů od ubytování je obchod s veškerým zbožím. Ubytování se nachází blízko autobusové zastávky ( 2 minuty) a metra a ostatních busů ( ca 10 minutek).
  
  What could be improved: Zpočátku mě zarazil dotaz, zda budu potřebovat povlečení a ručníky. To je bohužel chyba bookingu, že to nemá na hlavní stránce uvedeno a proto mě ani nenapadlo se podívat úplně dolů na nabídku, kde máte přehledně vypsány veškeré příplatky. Za povlečení, za ručníky, za parkoviště, za úklid apod. Nicméně, lze si vše dokoupit. I dřívější check in ( od 17:00 hodin) a pozdější check-out ( do 10:00 hodin). Vše za poplatek. Takže doporučuji si předem vše přečíst. S majitelem je velmi dobrá domluva, takže vše bude tak, jak si objednáte.

  Very close to The Atomium. Conveniently located above a grocery store. Brussels is 25-30 mins drive. Good kitchen utensils. Very quiet. Host was very responsive but the set of instructions can be a bit too much
  
  What could be improved: Dated couch and a dated apartment in general.
  No hand soap in the toilets or kitchen, only in the bathroom.
  Some light smell in the apartment. Stronger in the lobby.
  Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds and not queen as mentioned. In fact I would say smaller than a single and was very uncomfortable for me to sleep in.
  Apartment floor was sticky and toilet not super clean.

  El tamaño es perfecto para 5 personas, las camas muy comodas y la cocina tiene todo lo necesario. El acceso al apartamento es facil. Tiene supermercados muy cerca. Buena relación calidad/precio.
  
  What could be improved: El baño y el piso podrían haber estado un poco mas limpios, los envases de jabon estaban casi terminados. La ubicación no es ideal, pero se accede facilmente en metro.
