Secret Walls Overview
Tucked away on the cobblestone Rue des Echelles, the Secret Walls hotel in Brussels is a charming, three-star find that’s garnered a solid 7.9 rating from guests. When I first walked in, I was struck by the warm, almost homely atmosphere – you know, the kind of place where you feel instantly welcome. The lobby’s got a rustic, cozy vibe with a fireplace that crackles away in the winter months, and the staff, honestly, they’re the friendliest bunch you’ll meet.
What sets Secret Walls apart, though, is its proximity to some of Brussels’ hidden gems. I mean, just a short stroll down the street, you’ll find the quirky little shops and cafes that give the city its charm. The locals love the Place du Grand Sablon, which is just around the corner – a great spot for antique hunting and people watching. And if you’re a fan of art, the Magritte Museum is a must-visit, just a stone’s throw away.
The rooms are simple but comfortable, with a bit of a modern twist to the decor. You’ll appreciate the quiet hours in the evenings, perfect for a good night’s sleep before exploring the city. Parking can be a bit of a challenge in this part of town, but the hotel offers a garage, which is a godsend. Check-in was a breeze, and the staff were more than happy to share their favorite local haunts and insider tips.
In terms of practicalities, the Secret Walls is well-served by public transport, with the nearest tram stop just a few minutes’ walk. The area can get a bit busy during the summer months, but the hotel’s location on a quieter street means you’re away from the hustle and bustle. The breakfast is a highlight, with a variety of fresh pastries and strong coffee that’ll get your day off to a great start.
So, if you’re looking for a base in Brussels that’s not just a place to lay your head but a gateway to the city’s lesser-known delights, the Secret Walls is worth considering. It’s got that perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and character that makes your trip feel a little more authentic.

Convenient location and a lot of comfort – I really liked my stay. I had a room on the top floor, and there was a loft that I used as a sitting area. Everything was good and clean, and I really liked the design of the room.

This is a fine place for a short stay, mostly if you are in town for tourism. It is not so indicated when you are in Bruxelles for work. The place is essential, the hosts are kind people and available if needed.

It is a very cozy stay with 1 room on each floor. The rooms have beautiful decor and a very unique style. The coffee/tea station in the basement was really great for getting a nice cup of coffee and complimentary biscuits! Great experience!
