House of Mima Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to House of Mima on Rue Doyen Boone, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical hotel. It’s tucked into a quiet residential street in Etterbeek, and honestly, that’s part of its charm — you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully designed home rather than a commercial property. The four-star boutique hotel has this intimate, almost secretive quality that makes you want to keep it to yourself. This is a place where every corner reveals thoughtful design choices and personal touches that distinguish it from standard hotel chains.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Etterbeek might not be the first district tourists think of, but that’s actually what makes it brilliant. You’re close enough to central Brussels that you can walk to the European Quarter in about fifteen minutes, yet you’re away from the tourist crowds. There’s a lovely local bakery just around the corner where I grabbed croissants most mornings, and the tree-lined streets give you a real sense of how locals actually live. The metro connections are solid too — you can be at Grand Place or the Atomium without any hassle. This neighborhood offers an authentic Brussels experience that feels genuinely lived-in rather than staged for visitors.

The Room Experience

My room had this perfect balance of contemporary design and warmth that’s honestly hard to pull off. The attention to detail is what struck me most — from the carefully chosen artwork to the way the lighting actually works for both reading and relaxing. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms feel more like what you’d find in a high-end apartment than a typical hotel. You know what I mean — actual counter space and storage that makes sense. Every element has been selected with the guest’s comfort and convenience in mind.

Dining and Daily Rhythms

The breakfast setup isn’t a massive buffet situation, which I actually preferred. Instead, they focus on quality over quantity — really good coffee, fresh pastries, and local specialties that change based on what’s seasonal. The small restaurant area has this cozy, almost residential feel where you end up chatting with other guests naturally. I found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual, which says something about the atmosphere they’ve created. The dining experience here prioritizes connection and quality ingredients over volume.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets House of Mima apart is how it feels authentic to Brussels without trying too hard. The staff clearly know the neighborhood well and give recommendations that locals would actually use, not just tourist spots. Couples especially seem drawn to the place — there’s something romantic about the intimate scale and the way you feel like you’ve discovered something special. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you experience how thoughtfully everything is designed, from the common spaces to the way they handle the small details that make a stay memorable rather than just functional. This hotel succeeds because it understands that travelers seek genuine experiences and personal attention.

To book a hotel in Brussels during the European Union summit meetings, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts diplomats and business travelers from around the world.

Reviews of House of Mima

  • Pascaline from Germany – 11 April 2025 (8/10)

  • Athina from Belgium – 29 March 2025 (10/10)

It is a great house! Clean and spacious. I 100% recommend it.

  • Anne-claire from France – 4 January 2025 (10/10)

Great location, silence at night, well equipped.

What could be improved: The beds could be larger and more robust. I would be great to have shaders or thicker blackout curtains.

It was clean tidy and beautiful, nice neighborhood close to a beautiful park. Had to toilets which helps.

Good communication with Mima, fast response. Early check-in supported. Can pay deposit via wire transfer as well. Kitchen well equipped. Very good location. Near local shops, Colruyt 10 minutes walk. eScooters are always available. Excellent value for your money.

What could be improved: Some kitchenware were dirty, needed to clean them before use.
