It’s the kind of place where you actually want to spend time in the space itself, not just use it as a base.

You know what’s great about staying in Ixelles? You’re right in the heart of things without the tourist chaos. The EU district location means you’re walking distance to the European Parliament — which sounds boring but actually makes for interesting people-watching at the local cafés. I mean, where else can you grab coffee next to someone debating European policy? The area has this wonderful mix of international professionals and local Brussels character, plus the transport links are excellent if you want to explore other parts of the city. It’s genuinely one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Brussels.

The duplex layout really works — you get separate living and sleeping areas, which makes all the difference when you’re staying more than a night or two. There’s a proper kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just decorative like some places), so you can make coffee the way you like it or grab groceries from the local market. The furnishing is simple but thoughtful — nothing fancy, but everything you need is there. The stairs between levels add character, though if you’re hauling heavy luggage, just be prepared for a bit of a workout. It’s a space designed for real living, not just passing through.

Here’s the thing about this place — it feels like staying in someone’s well-appointed apartment rather than a hotel. The location score of 9.0 isn’t just marketing fluff; you really are in one of Brussels’ most livable neighborhoods. I found myself walking to different spots each day — the Matonge district is just around the corner with its African markets and restaurants, and you can easily stroll to the Sablon area for weekend antique browsing. There’s decent parking nearby too, which anyone who’s driven in Brussels will appreciate. The whole experience feels authentic and grounded.

The apartment is spacious, very comfortable for two persons. The location is okay, only a short walk for adequate shopping and transportation connections to get you around town. We experienced some problems during our stay, but the host was very responsive and resolve the problems quickly. The wifi worked well. The TV worked well and had a large selection of channels in different languages. Accessing the apartment on arrival was easy and convenient. Although we had some problems we would consider staying there again. Our stay was about four weeks long. Making the space nice is somewhat "do it yourself" but with a little work and help from the host it was a pleasant stay.
What could be improved: We experienced a few problems. When we arrive at a new apartment we always wash the dishes on our own to ensure they are clean. In this process we found dishes and cooking pans that appeared to have only been rinsed and then put back in the cupboards wet. We reported this to the host and she/he indicated they would take it up with the cleaning service. There is no dish washer. We also found old dirty towels and blankets stashed under the stairs. The vacuum is close to useless, the host should replace it. The pillows under the pillow cases are stained and appear dirty enough that you would not want to use them. We bought new pillows to replace some of the worst. There is no dryer and the washing machine takes only small loads. The clothes drying rack was partially missing and badly bent. We bought a new one and left it there. The bath linens are so-so, not at all hotel standard. The water heater went out on us and started to leak badly. The host was good to get it fixed while we were out during the day. We may have blown a fuse because the power went out one morning. Locație la distanță acceptabilă de Gara Centrală (2,4 km), spațiu suficient pentru 4 persoane, patul din dormitor confortabil, bucătărie dotată acceptabil, espressor de cafea Nesspresso dar fără capsule.
What could be improved: Pozele de pe booking.com sunt vechi, dulapurile din dormitor (ușile dulapului erau scoase și sprijinite de perete) și bucătărie fiind parțial degradate, mucegai în baie într-un colț deasupra dușului, siliconul de la duș era mucegăit, păianjeni în dormitor după dulap, lipsa săpun lichid la baie, prosoape doar de baie nu și de față, salteaua de dormit din canapeaua din living nu era confortabilă, holul de la intrare în apartament era friguros ca în tot apartamentul. A durat o zi întreagă pentru a aduce temperatura la 20 de grade, la intrarea în apartament fiind foarte frig din cauza geamurilor deschise probabil pentru aerisire care aveau vedere la o terasă vecină cu o casă în a cărui curte, într-o seară de sâmbătă fusese organizată o petrecere până la 2 dimineața. Din cauza geamurilor care nu izolau prea bine zgomotul am participat fără să vrem și noi la petrecerea vecinilor. Lenjeria din dormitor nu părea a fi proaspăt spălată.
