The building has that understated Brussels charm — not flashy, but there’s something reassuring about the way it sits quietly on this tree-lined street in Ixelles. I mean, you’re not going to mistake it for a grand palace, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it work so well.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about Ixelles — it’s where Brussels actually lives and breathes, away from the tourist crowds but still incredibly well-connected. You’re about a 15-minute walk to the city center, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by genuine neighborhood life. There are proper local cafés within a block or two, and the Chaussée d’Ixelles with its mix of shops and restaurants is just around the corner. What I really appreciated was how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — there’s something romantic about these quiet streets, especially in the evening when the old streetlamps come on.

The Rooms

The rooms at César are what I’d call thoughtfully compact — they’ve clearly put effort into making every square meter count without feeling cramped. The décor leans contemporary but not aggressively modern, which works well in a neighborhood that values character over flash. You’ll find the usual three-star amenities, but it’s the little touches that caught my attention — decent lighting for actually reading in bed, and windows that open properly (you’d be surprised how rare that is). The bathrooms are clean and functional, though don’t expect a spa experience.

Daily Rhythms

What struck me most about staying here was how naturally you fall into the rhythm of the neighborhood. Mornings start with the gentle bustle of locals heading to work, and by evening, you’re part of that lovely Brussels tradition of people strolling home from the local markets. The hotel staff seem genuinely familiar with the area — they’ll point you toward the good bakery (not just the closest one) and actually know which tram connections make sense depending on where you’re headed.

There’s a reason recent guests keep rating the location so highly, and it goes beyond just being well-positioned on a map. César sits in that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing authentic Brussels life while still having easy access to everything you came to see. It’s particularly appealing if you’re the type of traveler who wants to duck into a proper Belgian café for your morning coffee rather than staying trapped in tourist central. The hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s a solid, well-run place that lets the neighborhood do the heavy lifting, and honestly, that approach works beautifully here.

  It was a large apartment with lots of charm. Some painting had been done. It had WiFi and was close to many restaurants.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom had a bath tub with a hand held shower head and the heat was on but it was chilly in the apartment. It was the top floor of the building and the stairs were a little tough on our knees.

  The apartment is big and you have everything at your disposal: private wc, good wifi connection, spacious wardrobe, kitchen with microwaves, oven, sink, stove, and all the necessary utensils for cooking and serving. The hosts are very kind and helpful as well.
  
  What could be improved: There is no TV in the bedroom and the shower is not fixed to the wall, only with a hose, but these are quite tolerable issues.

  The price was very good and for me the location near the university was convenient, There is also an ALDI super close by, almost other side of road. The size of the space is good. For a tight budget and a place to lay your head, it's doable because for this price, it is among the most affordable of places of this size, with a separate bedroom, in Brussels.
  
  What could be improved: The condition of the place is run down, it needs renovation or at least a repaint and bit fixing, the bedding and towels are old (but clean), the bathroom was dated, the air was stuffy in the apartment. The kitchen was especially tired. It was very basic and did not feel very clean.

  The flat is very spacious, a lot of room for suitcases. The kitchen/living room are also very handy for breakfast in the moring.
  
  What could be improved: The building is a bit old and could do with re-painting in some parts, especially the bathroom which looked quite old.
