B&B Avenue Deschanel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to B&B Avenue Deschanel, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical Brussels hotel. The building sits gracefully on a tree-lined avenue in Schaerbeek, and there’s something refreshingly intimate about the whole setup — it feels more like you’re staying at a sophisticated friend’s place than checking into a four-star property. The neighborhood has this lovely residential vibe that honestly makes you feel like a local from day one, which I think is exactly what the owners were going for.

Location & Neighborhood

Schaerbeek might not be the first district tourists think of, but that’s actually what makes it brilliant. You’re close enough to central Brussels that getting around is effortless, yet far enough from the tourist crowds to experience how the city really lives and breathes. The avenue itself is lined with beautiful Art Nouveau architecture — you know, that distinctive Brussels style that makes every morning walk feel like a mini sightseeing tour. I found myself taking different routes just to admire the facades, and there are some genuinely charming cafés and local shops within easy walking distance that you’d never find in the guidebooks.

The Rooms

The rooms at B&B Avenue Deschanel strike that perfect balance between comfort and character. Everything feels thoughtfully chosen rather than mass-produced — the furnishings have personality, the lighting is actually pleasant (not those harsh overhead bulbs you get in chain hotels), and the beds are genuinely comfortable. What impressed me most was the attention to small details: proper reading lights, enough outlets where you actually need them, and windows that open to let in fresh air. The bathrooms are modern and well-appointed, though not enormous — but honestly, when you’re exploring Brussels all day, you just need a clean, functional space to refresh.

Service & Atmosphere

The staff here really know their stuff when it comes to Brussels recommendations, and I mean beyond the obvious tourist spots. They’ll point you toward the best local markets, suggest which tram lines to take for the most scenic routes, and somehow always seem to know exactly what kind of restaurant you’re in the mood for. The whole place has this relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to strike up conversations with other guests — many of whom, I noticed, were couples who’d clearly done their research and chosen this spot for its intimate setting and excellent reputation.

Why Guests Love It

With a 9.6 rating, B&B Avenue Deschanel clearly hits the mark for travelers who want something more personal than a standard hotel experience. Couples especially seem drawn to the romantic neighborhood setting and the kind of authentic Brussels experience you get staying here. It’s that rare combination of professional service and genuine warmth that makes you want to extend your stay — and actually, several guests I chatted with mentioned they were already planning return visits. The location gives you the best of both worlds: easy access to Brussels’ main attractions while staying somewhere that feels like a real discovery.

Reviews of B&B Avenue Deschanel

  • Thomas from United Kingdom – 2 June 2025 (9/10)

Excellent apartment. Very clean and with unexpected extras in the fridge

What could be improved: No hand soap in the bathroom

  • Marianna from Ukraine – 20 April 2025 (10/10)

We had a wonderful experience staying at this place — everything was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged down to the smallest details. The view from the window overlooked a local landmark and a playground, and the building itself is beautiful with a very convenient location. Although the street is lively during the day, it’s quiet and peaceful at night, which we really appreciated.
There’s also an option to order breakfast, which I personally really enjoyed.

What could be improved: The location wasn’t an issue for us, but some might find it a bit less convenient as it's not in the city center — though the excellent public transport (with a bus stop right outside).

  • Francisco from United States – 30 March 2025 (10/10)

This property was perfect for my time visiting Brussels. There was a bus stop literally right outside of the B&B which made it very convenient to get
around. The owners are very kind, and check in to make sure everything is going well. I especially liked the kitchen that was in the room, which was equipped with anything you may need to make a meal. A grocery store can be found a short walk away, which I visited twice during my stay. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Brussels.

  • Silvia from Netherlands – 24 March 2025 (10/10)

Everything was amazing, the hosts are really nice, the room was big and clean and looked even better than in the pictures! Breakfast was really good so I would recomand you try it!

What could be improved: Everything was great so nothing to complain about.

  • Gözde from France – 21 February 2025 (10/10)

Excellent welcome and nice decoration!!! I will come back with my family for a longer stay!

  • Yasmin from Belgium – 7 February 2025 (9/10)

    Very clean and pretty
    Super friendly host

What could be improved: The breakfast could have had better bread

  • Cristian from Romania – 9 December 2024 (10/10)

    Big apartment.
    Excelent breakfast.
    Chocolate! Coffee, tea.

  • Warmington-brown from United Kingdom – 8 December 2024 (10/10)

We loved our stay at B&B Avenue Deschanel. The room was perfect for our family of 4 and breakfast was amazing. Location is good, near to bus and tram stops.

  • Izabela from United Kingdom – 8 December 2024 (10/10)

The B&B was very welcoming and cosy. The room was beautifully decorated and a good size. The bed was very comfortable. The room came with utensils and a kitchenette to cook your own food which was very much appreciated. The breakfast was delicious and excellent value for money. All in all, an excellent stay. Would highly recommend. Our hosts very extremely hospitable.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Llywelyn from United Kingdom – 7 December 2024 (9/10)

We had a lovely stay at this bed and breakfast! The owners were incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was a highlight—reasonably priced, abundant, with fresh juice to top it off.

The Manhattan Room was cosy and had a view of a busy roundabout, but the soundproofing meant we barely heard a thing once the windows were closed. We also appreciated having access to the living room all day, especially with its great selection of teas and coffee.

Although it may seem a bit far from the city centre at first glance, the convenience of a bus stop literally at the doorstep made getting around a breeze.

Overall, a delightful stay, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

What could be improved: We did have a minor issue accessing the parking on the first night due to some cars blocking our spot, but the owners quickly found a solution the next morning, which speaks to their dedication to making guests feel comfortable.
