appartement douvres Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked up to appartement douvres on Rue de Douvres, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside. This three-star property in Anderlecht feels more like stepping into someone’s well-kept residential building, which is actually part of its charm. The entrance is understated, tucked into a quiet street that most tourists probably wouldn’t stumble upon by accident. But you know what? That’s exactly why couples seem to love this place so much.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Anderlecht isn’t the flashiest part of Brussels, but that’s precisely what makes it work. You’re far enough from the tourist crowds to feel like you’re experiencing the real city, yet close enough to hop on public transport and be in the center within minutes. I noticed plenty of local cafés and small shops within walking distance — the kind of places where you might be the only non-Belgian in the room. The area has this lived-in authenticity that you just can’t get when you’re staying right next to the Grand Place.

What You’re Actually Getting

The apartment setup here is what sets it apart from your typical hotel experience. Each unit feels like a proper living space rather than just a place to crash for the night. The kitchen facilities mean you can actually cook if you want to — and honestly, after a few days of Belgian waffles and frites, you might appreciate having that option. The furnishings are simple but thoughtful, nothing fancy but everything you need is there. I mean, when recent guests are rating the location this highly, they’re clearly onto something good.

Getting Around

Here’s something I really appreciated — parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in other parts of Brussels. If you’re driving, you’ll actually find spots without circling the block fifteen times. For public transport, you’re well-connected without being right on top of a busy metro station (which means quieter nights). The tram connections are solid, and I found myself getting to places like Ixelles or even the European Quarter pretty easily. It’s one of those locations where you feel smart for choosing it instead of paying twice as much to be in the obvious tourist zones.

Why Couples Keep Coming Back

There’s something about this place that just works for romantic getaways. Maybe it’s the residential feel that makes you feel like you’re playing house in Brussels for a few days, or maybe it’s the fact that you’re not surrounded by tour groups and business travelers. The 8.3 rating speaks for itself — people leave here satisfied. The space gives you room to breathe, the location lets you explore like locals, and honestly, the value is pretty solid for what you get. It’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities, but it delivers on the basics really well, which sometimes is exactly what you need.

Reviews of appartement douvres

  • Jade from United Kingdom – 6 January 2025 (9/10)

Room was clean (smelled like air freshener when we checked in).

It was very spacious for the price – there were two of us, but the sofa is a sofa bed so it could sleep up to four.

The bed in the bedroom was sooo comfortable! We also liked how it was furnished – it looked better than the photos in our opinion.

Check in was easy and host seemed very friendly when messaging about check-in info etc.

Good transport links – bus & tram stops around the corner, metro a short walk away. Easy access to the train station for those getting the Eurostar (we got a short Uber but you could get public transport or even walk).

Had no issues with the WiFi either – easy to connect via QR code.

All in all, excellent value for money.

What could be improved: Again, all in all had a great stay and would recommend but some things to keep in mind:

There is no lift, so not suitable for many people with accessibility issues, and would be tiring if you have lots of heavy luggage so would recommend packing light if possible.

Area is a little quiet & run down – but it’s so easy to get into centre via transport links so never saw this as a problem (we did find a lovely cafe & a lovely seafood restaurant on the high street though so area not too bad).

I personally would’ve preferred that the downstairs door be locked for extra security. However, the apartment itself is locked securely so this wasn’t a dealbreaker; we never felt unsafe.

Also body wash was included but no shampoo or conditioner – we brought our own so it was fine but just something to bear in mind.

Lastly, there weren’t any channels on the tv (unless we did it wrong!) but it’s you can still use YouTube or log into subscription services.

  • Alan from United Kingdom – 27 September 2024 (9/10)

Clean, modern and with all you need for a comfortable stay. Buses and trams nearby. Well worth the money.

What could be improved: Third floor could be tricky for some and there aren’t enough good food shops close by.

  • Abraham from Malaysia – 18 September 2024 (9/10)

Quiet part of town. 1min walk to laundromat and 7mins walk to supermarket. Connected to the city via two (2) different public transport companies. Space is sufficient and facilities are as published.

What could be improved: Accommodation located on the 3rd floor, perhaps unsuitable for those with large/heavy luggages and/or with mobility difficulties.

  • Burak from Poland – 24 June 2024 (8/10)

The apartment was quite clean and well maintained.

What could be improved: The location was quite terrifying, I wouldn't stay in that location again.

  • Gillian from South Africa – 28 May 2024 (9/10)

We were well impressed with this property. Very clean and well maintained. We did have a problem with parking as we were travelling with our own car. As we are not from Europe, the parking meters just outside the property didn't accept our card for payment and had to find parking much further from the property which of course, would not be a problem at all for those not arriving in their own car or living in Europe. Us parking elsewhere unfortunately did result in us being fined but this is not the fault of the property. But just want to make other travelers aware of what to expect.

  • Betul from Turkey – 13 April 2024 (9/10)

The location is excellent. The apartment was very clean and tidy. The kitchen was functional. Both the TV and internet were working great.

What could be improved: There is no elevator, which may be a problem if you have large luggage. Other than that, the stairs are OK for daily use.

  • Sabina from United Kingdom – 9 March 2024 (9/10)

The property was clean, modern and had everything needed to make your stay easy

What could be improved: Not keen on the steps up to the property, but there is nothing that can be done about that. They were manageable

  • Patryk from Poland – 28 February 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is clean, fully functional. Equipped with necessary accessories. Additionally, trouble-free contact with the owner, he responded quickly to messages via WhatsApp. The apartment is located up to 40 minutes walk from the center.

What could be improved: The only problem was parking. Finding a parking space took time and creativity. There is a paid city parking lot next to the apartment. Mostly it was full. We parked in the Lidl parking lot during the day and in the city parking lot at night.

  • Claire from United Kingdom – 5 November 2023 (8/10)

Spacious clean and well equipped. Quiet district accessible by buses, trams or metro

  • Naina from India – 20 October 2023 (9/10)

Excellent facilities at the property. They were well-maintained and made my stay very comfortable.
The cleanliness of the property was top-notch.
Reliable Wi-Fi and good connectivity throughout the property.
Super market and grocery store is nearby.
    Public transportation is easily accessible.

What could be improved: Lack of ventilation in the bathroom. It made the bathroom feel stuffy.
