Résidence Marianne Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Résidence Marianne on Rue de la Violette, you immediately get that feeling you’re staying somewhere locals actually know about. This three-star place sits tucked away on a quiet street, but honestly — the location is what makes it special. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Brussels without all the tourist chaos right outside your door. The building itself has that classic European charm, nothing flashy, but you can tell it’s been thoughtfully maintained.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re actually close to everything that matters without being on top of it. The Grand Place is just a few minutes’ walk, but you won’t hear the crowds from your window. There’s this great little bakery around the corner that locals queue up at every morning, and honestly, that’s usually a good sign you’ve found the right area. The Sablon district is practically next door, which means some of Brussels’ best chocolate shops and antique markets are within easy reach. You know what’s really nice? Couples seem to get this place — there’s something about the quiet streets and intimate scale that just works for romantic getaways.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run residence — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some places. The windows are decent-sized, so you get good natural light during the day, and the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this). What struck me was how quiet it gets at night — being on Rue de la Violette means you’re off the main thoroughfares, so you can actually sleep without earplugs.
Practical Considerations
Storage space is adequate, though not generous — pack light if you’re the type who brings half your wardrobe. The bathroom setup is straightforward and modern enough, with good water pressure, which honestly matters more than fancy fixtures. One thing to note: this is more of a residence-style setup, so don’t expect a full-service hotel experience with a restaurant or concierge desk. But that’s sort of the point — you’re staying in Brussels, not hiding from it.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests keep mentioning the location, and they’re not wrong — it’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re discovering something rather than following a guidebook. The staff seems to actually care about the place, which shows in the small details. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having a quiet base while being steps away from Brussels’ best neighborhoods. It’s not trying to be anything more than a solid, well-located place to stay, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. The value feels right for what you get — decent accommodations in a genuinely good location without paying premium prices for unnecessary frills.

Location, enabled easy walking exploration of inner Brussels.
Interesting art nouveau style of apartment.
Space, well resourced kitchen.
What could be improved: Shower water pressure was below par.
Couch somewhat uncomfortable.
Could not get TV to receive anything.Antonija from Croatia – 11 May 2025 (8/10)
Location is great, in a very center. Beds are comfortable. Fire place is great additional decoration.
What could be improved: Floor needs to be vacuum and there needs to be more than one toilet paper for 3 person stay. Rest is just fine for 2 days stay.Jane from Spain – 24 April 2025 (9/10)
Fantastic location, everything you need.
What could be improved: It just needs a few little touches to enhance a very good experienceЙордан from Bulgaria – 10 March 2025 (8/10)

Overall we were very happy with our stay and would book it again, should we ever visit Brussels again.
We loved the location and fell in love with the apartment itself immediately.
Since we arrived before check-in, we were able to leave our luggage in the apartment, while the cleaning lady prepared the apartment. When we came back around 3 pm, it was ready and she had even placed out luggage in the bedroom. Very nice of her.

We loved the location and fell in love with the apartment itself immediately.
However, on our second night (out of two nights stay) we had no heat and the hot water. Being that it was minus degrees outside, it became quite cold in the apartment.Marta from Bulgaria – 12 February 2025 (8/10)

Location, European style apartment
What could be improved: The room next to toilet had a bad odor. Maybe coming from the washing machine. TV picture was bad due to a crack at the bottom.Kamila from Poland – 1 October 2024 (7/10)
My stay at Residence Marianne in Brussels was a mixed bag.
The location was fantastic, right in the heart of the city with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The apartment itself was in a beautifully renovated old building. The kitchen was well-equipped, though the lack of basic amenities like tea was a bit surprising.
What could be improved: However, there were several drawbacks. The bathroom was incredibly small, which would be tolerable for a short stay but would be quite inconvenient for a longer visit. There was only one towel hook and the hot water pressure was very low, making it difficult to shower. Additionally, there was no hair dryer, which the owner attributed to it being a new addition, but I believe it's a basic necessity, especially when the weather is cool.
The lack of storage space was another major issue. There were no wardrobes or shelves to put clothes or belongings. The bedding was also wrinkled and the spare bedding was simply stacked in a corner, which didn’t give a very clean impression.
The apartment had poor acoustics, as we could hear our neighbors very clearly. The double bedroom also lacked a window and the entrance to the bathroom was through the bedroom, not from the hallway.
Communication with the owner was slow, which was frustrating at times.
