majorelle Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to majorelle on François Hellinckxstraat, you’d honestly miss it if you weren’t looking — and that’s actually part of its charm. This four-star boutique spot in Koekelberg doesn’t scream for attention like some of the flashier places downtown, but there’s something quietly sophisticated about the way it sits on this tree-lined street. The entrance feels more like stepping into a well-designed friend’s home than a typical hotel lobby, which I mean, sets the tone perfectly for what’s inside.

The Koekelberg Advantage

Here’s what most tourists don’t realize about staying in Koekelberg — you’re actually in one of Brussels‘ best-kept secrets for location. Sure, you’re not right in the Grand Place chaos, but you’re close enough to everything that matters without the tourist crowds outside your window. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is practically next door (you can see it from some rooms), and honestly, the metro connections from here get you to the city center in about fifteen minutes. Couples seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 8.4, which makes sense because there’s something romantic about having your own quiet corner of the city.

Inside Your Room

The room design here leans into that boutique aesthetic without trying too hard. I appreciated the attention to details — good lighting for actually reading, proper blackout curtains, and a bathroom that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. The beds are comfortable (not groundbreaking, but solid), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. You know what I noticed? The windows are well-insulated, so even though you’re on a city street, it stays surprisingly quiet at night.

Neighborhood Discoveries

This is where staying at majorelle gets interesting — Koekelberg has this local vibe that you just don’t find in the tourist zones. There’s a great little restaurant called Chez Léon about a five-minute walk away (locals actually eat there, which tells you something), and the weekend market on Place Eugène Simonis is worth timing your stay around. The area feels lived-in rather than polished for visitors, which I found refreshing after bouncing between more touristy parts of the city.

Why Guests Love It

Recent guests have been rating the location 8.3, and after spending time here, I get why. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing Brussels rather than just visiting it — close enough to everything important, but far enough from the crowds to actually relax. The staff seems to understand this balance too; they’re helpful without being hovering, and they know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward things you wouldn’t find in guidebooks. For the price point of a four-star place, you’re getting solid comfort and a genuinely good location that works whether you’re here for business or just exploring the city.

Visitors often choose Brussels apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent European capital.

Do lado da estação de metrô que facilita a locomoção. Proprietária nos ajudou e até deu alguns bilhetes de transporte. Lugar seguro e com padaria e mercado do lado. Confortável.

What could be improved: O banheiro fica no subsolo, mas não acho ruim.

This place have a lot potential. I loved that we had so much space and a little garden

What could be improved: It was really dirty, like no one cleaned before us. For third person the bed linen was dirty and they gave us only the bed sheet and had food stains. The toilet wasn’t in the apartment, but it wasn’t a big deal. The neighbourhood is not really good too
