Grand appartement deux chambres Overview
First Impressions
When I first walked into Grand appartement deux chambres, I’ll be honest — the name pretty much tells you everything you need to know. This three-star place in Laeken isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s actually refreshing. You’re getting a proper two-bedroom apartment that feels more like staying at a friend’s place than some sterile hotel room. The building itself has that classic Brussels character, and you can tell they’ve put thought into making the space work for travelers who need more than just a bed for the night.
The Laeken Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — Laeken is one of those neighborhoods that locals know but tourists often miss. You’re technically still in Brussels, but it feels quieter, more residential. The Royal Castle of Laeken is practically around the corner, and honestly, walking through those tree-lined streets in the morning beats fighting crowds in the city center any day. I mean, you can still get downtown easily enough, but you’ve got this nice buffer zone where you can actually breathe. Couples seem to get this — the feedback I’ve heard is that it’s perfect for romantic getaways without the tourist chaos.
Living Space That Actually Works
The apartment setup is where this place really shines. You’ve got two proper bedrooms, which is brilliant if you’re traveling with friends or family — no one’s stuck on a pullout couch. The kitchen is fully equipped, and I actually used it, which says something. There’s enough counter space to spread out, decent cookware, and a proper-sized fridge. The living area doesn’t feel cramped either, and the windows let in good natural light during the day. It’s the kind of space where you can settle in for a few days without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase.
Practical Details
What I appreciated most was how straightforward everything was. The parking situation is manageable — not always a given in Brussels — and the building feels secure without being fortress-like. The WiFi actually works well (tested it thoroughly for work calls), and the heating keeps things comfortable even during those damp Belgian winters. You know what’s nice? They don’t nickel and dime you for basic stuff. The washing machine was a lifesaver for a longer stay, and having proper storage space meant I could actually unpack.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests keep mentioning the location, and they’re not wrong — it really is well-positioned. But beyond that, it’s the fact that you get genuine value here. This isn’t about fancy amenities or over-the-top service; it’s about having a comfortable, functional base that doesn’t break the bank. The neighborhood has good cafes, a decent supermarket nearby, and that authentic Brussels feel without the tourist markup. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having your own space to retreat to after a day of sightseeing. It’s accommodation that gets out of your way and lets you enjoy the city — which, honestly, is exactly what you want sometimes.

The unit had a good amount of space and had what we needed for our short stay
What could be improved: The upstairs neighbour could be heard at early morning hours as the main room lights rattled when they walked. There is no air circulation in the main room if the doors are closed to block out the noise. There was also miscommunication with where we could store our luggage when we arrived early and also had to wait an hour past our check in time due to previous occupants not leaving on timeLiangyu from France – 11 April 2025 (8/10)
