Family duplex getaway – Perfectly positioned for city adventures Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to the Family duplex getaway – Perfectly positioned for city adventures on Rue de la Sablonnière, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name alone. But you know what? Sometimes the most straightforward names tell you exactly what you’re getting. This four-star property sits right in the thick of things in Brussels, and I mean really in the heart of it all — not one of those “centrally located” places that’s actually a 20-minute tram ride from anywhere interesting. The moment you step inside, you realize this is a property designed with real guests in mind, not just another cookie-cutter accommodation.

The Space

The duplex setup is actually pretty clever for families or groups who want some breathing room. You’ve got space to spread out without feeling like you’re all cramped together in a typical hotel box. The layout flows naturally between levels, and there’s enough space that parents can have their coffee while kids are still getting ready upstairs. I appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout — nothing fancy, but everything you actually need is there. The apartment configuration gives you the flexibility of a home rental with the reliability of a professional property.

Location Magic

Here’s where this place really shines, and the 8.7 location score isn’t just marketing fluff. You’re literally steps from the Grand Place, but tucked away on a quieter street that locals actually use. I watched people heading to work in the morning, not just tourists with cameras — that’s always a good sign. The couples who rated the location 9.4 for romantic trips clearly know something, because there’s this perfect balance of being central but not feeling like you’re sleeping in Times Square. You get the best of both worlds: proximity to major attractions and authentic neighborhood charm.

Neighborhood Feel

What I really loved about staying here was how quickly you slip into the Brussels rhythm. There’s a little café around the corner where the owner actually remembers your order by day three, and the chocolate shops nearby — well, let’s just say my luggage was heavier on the way home. The area feels safe for evening walks, and you’re close enough to both the touristy spots and the places where actual Brussels residents hang out. That’s harder to find than you’d think. The neighborhood offers genuine local experiences without sacrificing accessibility to major sites.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.4 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — no pretentious lobby or over-the-top amenities. Instead, it delivers exactly what families and couples need: space, location, and that feeling like you’re actually staying in Brussels rather than just visiting it. The duplex concept works especially well for longer stays when you want to feel a bit more settled. Honestly, for the location alone, you’d be hard-pressed to find better value in this part of the city. Whether you’re traveling with family or seeking a romantic escape, this property consistently exceeds expectations.

Reviews of Family duplex getaway – Perfectly positioned for city adventures

  • Robyn from Netherlands – 17 April 2025 (9/10)

As others have said, the towels weren’t big enough, and there were a lot of steps, but aside from that I can’t really fault this place. Comfortable beds and linens, wonderful tub, had all the basic things you might need and in a great location. Would definitely stay again.

  • Suh from South Korea – 15 April 2025 (8/10)

tidy, well equipped, spacious, location, Britta water purifier

What could be improved: 3rd floor w/o elevator, many steps

  • Gareth from United Kingdom – 8 April 2025 (9/10)

The property is very well situated for all of the sights of Brussels, the apartment is well equipped and comfortable.

What could be improved: The shower towels are small and more like a hand towel, and there are a lot of stairs so not ideal if you have mobility issues or young children.

  • Martina from Switzerland – 1 February 2025 (9/10)

very beautiful apartment, I love the style

What could be improved: the stairs are kind of tricky, but I think it‘s mostly like this in Belgium

  • Mustafa from Turkey – 30 January 2025 (7/10)

Everything except for hot water cuttage was beatiful. Unfortunately when my children took shower the hot water was cut and never worked again. That was not good. And the towels are very very small, may be changed in the future.

What could be improved: Well positioned location, spacious living space, a beatiful balcony and well equiped kitchen.

  • Cédric from Belgium – 14 January 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: The first reason I had booked this was because there was a bath, unfortunately the water didn't get hot enough to use it so this was rather disappointing.

We had to check out at 11 am at the latest, at 10.50 am we heard the door open downstairs and someone entered. This was not son pleasant feeling. (I think the cleaning person)

  • Claire from United Kingdom – 3 December 2024 (9/10)

The location was great for my event, and it was easy to walk around the rest of the district. I would certainly stay again.

  • Henrietta from Ireland – 24 November 2024 (8/10)

Nice to have space for yourself after a day of hustle&bustle. Could definitely work for a longer stay with everything you need for self catering. 15min walk to the square.

  • Nadia from Romania – 18 October 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: The open shower is not ideal.

  • Tautas from Netherlands – 15 August 2024 (9/10)

It was clean and well equipped.

What could be improved: The street in front is a little loud.
