Design europarlament apartment with private terrace Overview

First Impressions

When I first spotted the Design europarlament apartment with private terrace, I’ll be honest — the name made me think it would be some sterile business-focused place. Boy, was I wrong. This three-star gem sits right on Chaussée de Wavre in the heart of Ixelles, and there’s something genuinely charming about how it balances modern design with that relaxed Brussels neighborhood vibe. You know what really caught my attention? That private terrace — it’s not just a marketing gimmick, it actually makes the whole experience feel more like staying at a friend’s stylish place than a typical hotel.

The Ixelles Advantage

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re in Brussels but not drowning in tourist crowds. Ixelles has this wonderful mix of locals grabbing coffee, students from the nearby university, and yes, some EU folks heading to work, but it never feels overwhelming. The Chaussée de Wavre is lined with these great little cafés and shops that tourists often miss entirely. I mean, you can walk to the European Parliament if that’s your thing, but honestly, I spent more time exploring the local markets and stumbling into conversations with shopkeepers who actually remembered me after a couple of days.

The Space Itself

The apartment setup really works here — you get that sense of living like a local rather than just passing through. The design is clean and contemporary without being cold, and whoever put this together clearly thought about how people actually use a space. The kitchen isn’t just for show either; I actually cooked a simple dinner one evening using ingredients from the nearby market. But let’s talk about that terrace — it’s where I had my morning coffee every single day, watching the neighborhood wake up. There’s something pretty special about having your own outdoor space in the middle of the city.

Getting Around and Daily Life

Public transport from here is honestly fantastic — the tram connections make it easy to hop over to the Grand Place or Sablon when you want that classic Brussels experience. But what I appreciated most was how walkable everything felt. Need groceries? There’s a Delhaize just down the street. Want a proper Belgian beer? The local café owners know their stuff and aren’t trying to tourist-trap you. The area feels safe too, even wandering back after dinner — something I always notice as a traveler.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.5 location rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. Couples especially seem to get it — there’s something romantic about having your own little terrace retreat while still being connected to the city’s energy. The whole setup encourages you to slow down a bit, maybe linger over breakfast, plan your day without rushing. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Brussels, but it nails that sweet spot of comfort, style, and authentic neighborhood living that makes you want to extend your stay by a few days.

The concierge service in Brussels can arrange exclusive chocolate factory tours, secure reservations at Michelin-starred restaurants, and organize personalized visits to the European Parliament and UNESCO World Heritage Grand Place.

Reviews of Design europarlament apartment with private terrace

  • Mona from France – 4 June 2025 (7/10)

the apartment is nice and very clean.

What could be improved: Some notes though they did not bother us:
    – The stairs leading to the bedroom below are very steep, so not appropriate for young children
    – The access to the private terrasse is through the bathroom!
But what really bothered us, is the sound of a certain (maybe water?) pump. It was really annoying and kept us from sleeping until it finally stopped at around 02:45 AM!

  • Jennifer from United Kingdom – 7 April 2025 (7/10)

Lovely and clean, only a 20 minute walk from grand place

What could be improved: Pillows were awful, not much sleep!

  • Jop from Netherlands – 24 March 2025 (8/10)

A big apartment with good facilities and a small garden

What could be improved: Location was quite far from the city center (aprox. 30 min walk) l. But its doable if you have good shoes

  • Apostolos from Greece – 15 December 2024 (9/10)

    Super clean, big apartment
Host always available for any questions.

What could be improved: This was not problem for us, but it is a bit noisy as it is very close to train tracks.

  • Thierry from Italy – 16 October 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: Noisy next to rail track

  • Satch from United Kingdom – 12 July 2024 (7/10)

Location and clean, host acted swiftly to resolve the issues.

What could be improved: Issues with the locking system (although rectified quickly), issues with the WiFi (bu was also sorted quickly), the property should have a broom or hoover of some sort to clean after yourself), the stairs lead to the ground floor room are very steep, toilet drainage system needs looking at.

  • Omar from Palestinian Territory – 11 July 2024 (7/10)

The apartment is cozy, modern, new furniture, nice view, good location.

The view on the street was unique, never tried such experience but I loved it, it was also raining those days, it was something strange but nice looking at the street and people walking by and curious to look inside the apartment find me with my belly and daughter (1 year old) who has also has a belly looking at them with a smile and laughs! lool. Of course there are curtains that work normally, but we chose to open them.

The location is great as it is close to the airport, very close to EU Parliament, nice restaurants close by, pharmacy and fruit shop.

What could be improved: Note: Main train-rails right under the apartment, 4 parallel railways, at the beginning you would feel every train passes, that is only from the room, not the lobby or kitchen. I thought it would be a disaster, but honestly, we had no issues, even my little kid slept like she is on the cloud, lol. But worthies mentioning. (see the map).

Problem: Wi-Fi, did not work at the beginning, and the host said he cant do anything till the morning (it was 10:00PM when we had chance to try internet). After an hour we tried and did work. Maybe the host tweaked it remotely.

Problem: The bathtub is really high, even I, 184cm tall, found it frustrating to get in and out, felt unsafe for family.

Tiny Problem: Upper bathroom is very small, you cant close the door, I mean you can use the outer door, but yet, it was small, removing it is better.

Tiny Problem: Building entrance smells really bad because of neighbors put trash bags there, I mean right on the entrance. NOT INSIDE THE APARTMENT, the apartment smelled normal and was clean, neat and modern. Actually, the whole garbage management in Belgium is strange for me.

Note: Host did not respond to our early check-in (two hours only) request even though I put it before I book and sent a message afterwords, maybe he did not respond in purpose maybe he did not notice, or simply refuses, but he could reject request since the moment I booked, or decline in a message.

  • Colin from United Kingdom – 20 May 2024 (8/10)

Good location for our visit. Property had all our cooking needs.Good sized lounge. Nice patio area. Comfortable beds. Property owner was quick to fix minor plumbing problem.

What could be improved: Parking in the area was on street but we knew that before we booked. Stairs to lower floor bathroom were steep. Lower floor bedroom had an extractor that came on during periods of high humidity. The extractor was noisy. Lower bedroom was below road level & at times was subject to street noise. Similarly the ground floor was subject to noise from trains. We do not live in areas that have traffic or train noise so we may be particularly sensitive to such noises.

  • Jesper from Denmark – 22 October 2023 (8/10)

Easy to find a pretty spacious. The apartment have everything you need.

What could be improved: The area is not so quiet and you hear alot of noice from the street. Early morning the train is starting and it will wake you up. Even though we where staying there in the mid of october no heat was on.

  • Silvifoodie from Italy – 3 October 2023 (9/10)

very beautiful place, confortable and nice spaces.
