Citadines Sainte-Catherine Brussels Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Citadines Sainte-Catherine Brussels on quai au Bois à Brûler, you immediately get that “I’m in the right spot” feeling. This three-star aparthotel sits right where the action is — honestly, I mean right in the thick of things in Brussels. The building itself has that understated European charm that doesn’t try too hard, which I actually appreciate more than those flashy places that scream for attention.
Location That Actually Matters
You know what’s great about this spot? You’re literally steps from Sainte-Catherine Square, where locals hang out at the weekend markets and tourists haven’t completely taken over yet. The old fish market area has transformed into this buzzing neighborhood with authentic Belgian restaurants — not the tourist traps, but places where Brussels residents actually eat. I mean, when couples rate the location 9.5 out of 10, they’re onto something real. You can walk to Grand Place in about eight minutes, but you’re staying somewhere that feels more like a neighborhood than a postcard.
The Apartment Setup
The apartment style really works here — you get a proper kitchenette, which honestly saves you from eating out every single meal (your wallet will thank you). The room feels more like a temporary home than a hotel box, with enough space to actually unpack and settle in. Nothing fancy, but everything works well, and the beds are comfortable enough that you won’t wake up grumpy. The bathrooms are compact but functional — typical European efficiency without feeling cramped.
Breakfast and Practical Stuff
The breakfast setup surprised me a bit — they do both continental and buffet options, so whether you’re a grab-coffee-and-go person or someone who needs a proper morning spread, you’re covered. The buffet has decent local touches alongside the standard hotel fare. Parking is available on-site, which in Brussels city center is actually a pretty big deal — most places make you hunt around side streets or expensive public garages. It’s one of those details that seems small until you’re dragging luggage around cobblestone streets.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. You’re getting solid three-star comfort in a location that five-star hotels would charge double for. The Sainte-Catherine area gives you that authentic Brussels experience — morning coffee at local cafés, evening drinks where you hear more French and Flemish than English, and easy access to both the tourist highlights and the real city. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because you’ve found your temporary Brussels base, not just a place to sleep. Staff members are attentive and helpful, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere that makes guests want to return.
Brussels hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Grand Place area to elegant converted townhouses and modern business accommodations in the European Quarter.

Loved the little kitchen in rooms!
What could be improved: The tub/shower area was fine for me but I’d be concerned for an elderly person to be stepping into it.Cameron from Canada – 9 May 2025 (9/10)
The location is very convenient for transit and main downtown sights. Very walkable. Neighbourhood feels safe. Loved having the stovetop and dishwasher in the room.
What could be improved: The only downside was the hallway between the elevator and the room – very much in need of an upgrade and the huge step into the tub in order to shower.Kubli from Switzerland – 28 April 2025 (9/10)
clean rooms, good beds
What could be improved: not a big fan of bathtub showersCzechak from Netherlands – 15 April 2025 (9/10)
