Cinquantenaire Appartement Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Cinquantenaire Appartement on Rue des Francs, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical hotel experience. It’s tucked into a quiet residential street in Brussels‘ Etterbeek district, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The building has that classic Belgian townhouse feel — you know, the kind where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully maintained home rather than a sterile hotel lobby. The four-star rating makes perfect sense when you see the attention to detail in the entrance and common areas.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re literally a five-minute walk from Cinquantenaire Park, which is where the property gets its name. I mean, having those sprawling green spaces and the impressive triumphal arch right at your doorstep is pretty special. The area feels authentically Brussels without the tourist crowds you’ll find closer to Grand Place. There’s a small grocery store around the corner, and the tram connections are actually really good — you can get to the city center in about fifteen minutes. Couples seem to particularly appreciate this setup, and I can see why.
Living Like a Local
The apartment setup is what really sets this place apart from standard hotel rooms. You get a proper living space with a functional kitchen — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation, but actual cooking facilities. The room layouts vary, but they all have this comfortable, lived-in quality that makes you want to settle in for more than just a night or two. Everything feels thoughtfully arranged, from the lighting to the furniture placement. It’s clear someone put real thought into making these spaces work for travelers who want a bit more independence.
Practical Comforts
What impressed me most was how well everything actually functions — the WiFi is solid, the heating works properly (crucial in Brussels), and there’s decent parking available, which anyone who’s driven in this city will tell you is no small thing. The building itself is quiet, even though you’re in an urban area. I stayed here during a busy weekend and barely heard any street noise. The housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive, and they’re pretty flexible about check-in times if you coordinate ahead.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.6 rating really reflects what you experience here — it’s that sweet spot between hotel service and apartment freedom. You’re not dealing with a massive lobby full of tour groups, but you’re also not completely on your own if something goes wrong. The location consistently gets high marks because it gives you easy access to both the European Quarter and the more traditional Brussels neighborhoods. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having your own space to retreat to after a day of sightseeing, maybe picking up some Belgian beer and cheese to enjoy in your own restaurant-quality kitchen setup. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re getting an insider’s view of Brussels rather than just passing through.

Reviews of Cinquantenaire Appartement
Exceptional – Ben from Australia – 6 September 2024 (10/10)
Spacious, clean and comfortable. Fully equipped with everything you may need. Great location near Metro station and the Parc Cinquantenaire
What could be improved: Just a suggestion. On hot days a fan would be useful.Good pleasant stay on an accessible location. Pleased with my stay. – Jamie from Singapore – 30 June 2024 (9/10)
Nicely kept apartment that seemed to have been recently renovated or just very well kept. It was in good condition and comfortable. It had a good washing machine that helped me keep my clothes fresh.
The room size was large and not filled with clutter. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. You can hear a little bit of street noise in the morning (e.g. the occasional tram in the distance) but nothing too disturbing or too early. I was surprised the TV had so many channels. The table was helpful. Only thing missing is a comfortable place to sit. There’s no arm chair or sofa, just the one dinning table and associated chairs. Internet was fast. Location – there are a lot of good quality shops nearby which gives the area a pleasant feel. I didn’t find a bakery or mini market though, so plan that ahead. It was a short walk to the tram, or up the hill to the metro (there is a small Carrefour Express in the metro station), or over to the railway station. It was only a short distance to Schuman – one stop on the metro, or a 10-minute walk through the park. Don’t be put off by the Google Street Map view of the apartment block – if you spin around the default image you see it’s quite a pleasant residential street. I was glad of my stay here.

The apartment door could be made to look a bit nicer. The plaster around the lock doesn’t give a good first impression even if it is just cosmetic.Excellent! Loved it! – Inna from Ukraine – 10 June 2024 (10/10)
The apartment was nice, clean, spacious, light, well located. You have all the necessary stuff there, including not only iron, hair dryer and cookware, but also coffee capsules, tea bags, hair conditioner, etc. I loved the cookies and chocolates 😍 and the communication was excellent! Will come back next time!
A great apartment, I will definitely stay again. – Michael from United Kingdom – 27 May 2024 (9/10)
The host had free coffee and some small cakes which was very nice and unexpected.

Nice location, lovely apartments 😊
Great appartment in Bruxelles – Romina from Spain – 7 January 2024 (10/10)
Location was great, a little bit away from Grand Place, but 15 mins with metro and even to walk was a nice stroll of less than one hour. A lovely neighborhood with a Carrefour close by and metro and tram stops near too.
The apartment has all you can need for a short or long stay, bed was very comfortable too.
The self checkin process is really comfortable and instructions are super easy.
Owner communication was good too.
What could be improved: Unfortunately it smelt a lot to cigarette smoke.
When you don’t smoke you feel it stronger
I don’t know if owner smokes or just the previous guests , but it was annoying every time you enter because clothes and hair get impregnated with it.Good to stay in Brussels – Bogdan from Romania – 20 September 2023 (10/10)
– Good location
– coffee machine with pils available from hostEnjoyable – Sean from Ireland – 12 September 2023 (8/10)
It was clean and comfortable and near a metro station so it was easy to see different parts of the city
What could be improved: It was very hot during our stay so air conditioning would have been nice
