BXLROOM Guesthouse Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to BXLROOM Guesthouse on Rue du Marché au Charbon, you immediately get that “I found something special” feeling. This four-star guesthouse sits right in the thick of things — I mean, you’re literally steps from the Grand Place, but tucked away on a street that feels authentically Brussels rather than touristy. The building itself has that classic European charm without trying too hard, and honestly, the entrance gives you just enough of a preview of the thoughtful design waiting inside.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re in Brussels‘ historic center, but on a street that locals actually use. Rue du Marché au Charbon has this great mix of vintage shops, cozy cafés, and the kind of bars where you’ll end up chatting with Belgians about beer (which, let’s be honest, is exactly what you want). The Manneken Pis is a two-minute walk, the Royal Galleries are right there, and you can stumble back from the best beer bars in the city without needing a map. Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.9, and I totally understand why.

The Room Experience

The room design here is what sets BXLROOM apart from your typical Brussels accommodation. Each space feels more like a carefully curated urban retreat than a standard hotel setup — think clean lines, local touches, and windows that actually open so you can hear the city waking up. What really impressed me though were the beds. I’m usually skeptical when places boast about their mattresses, but honestly, I slept better here than I have in months. The linens feel substantial, the pillows hit that perfect balance, and the blackout situation is solid if you’re dealing with jet lag.

The Neighborhood Vibe

What you’ll discover staying here is how the area shifts throughout the day. Mornings bring the smell of fresh bread from nearby bakeries and the sound of delivery trucks navigating the narrow streets. By afternoon, the vintage shops and record stores draw a creative crowd, and evenings — well, evenings are when this part of Brussels really comes alive. You’re walking distance from Delirium Café if you want the full tourist beer experience, but also close to smaller spots like Moeder Lambic where the locals go for serious brews.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.3 rating makes sense when you experience how everything just works here. The staff actually knows the neighborhood and will point you toward the good stuff — not just the obvious tourist spots, but the bakery with the best croissants or which night to hit the vintage market. It’s that combination of being perfectly positioned in the city center while feeling like you’ve discovered something a bit more personal. You know what really sells it though? You’ll find yourself planning your next Brussels trip before you’ve even checked out, and that’s usually the mark of a place that gets the details right.

Brussels hotels range from charming boutique properties in the historic Grand Place area to elegant converted townhouses and modern business accommodations in the European Quarter.

Reviews of BXLROOM Guesthouse

  • A quiet retreat in the city centre. – Michael from Australia – 13 July 2025 (9/10)

A comfortable apartment with balcony looking onto a private garden We appreciated the apartment as a quiet retreat in the city centre. Our host was very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed access to a shared kitchen area with coffee machine.

What could be improved: Small bathroom and toilet.

  • Superb – Doležalová from Czech Republic – 10 July 2025 (9/10)

    excellent service and communicative host

  • Property and the host exceeded all of our expectations. It is in the heart of entertainment district close to transport – Brigitte from Australia – 2 July 2025 (10/10)

    Excellent location, secure and clean

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Fantastic location and great host – Christian from Belgium – 30 June 2025 (10/10)

Amazing location right in the center within minutes of the grand place and many restaurants and bars. Yet you do not hear anything it is super quiet. The host is very attentive

What could be improved: The only small negative is the lack of AC which can be uncomfortable during heatwaves. However fans are provided

  • A great place to stay in a great location. – Darren from United Kingdom – 29 June 2025 (9/10)

In a great location. Lovely modern room and kitchen with a wide variety of nice beverages. A very friendly and welcoming host. Lovely bathroom and powerful hot shower. Very clean and tidy. The whole apartment had a calming and tranquel feel.

  • Added pleasure was the guesthouse and host as was the city – Patrick from United States – 20 June 2025 (10/10)

Could not of asked for a better host(Edmund) who was not intrusive but always available for assistance and recommendations.
Location was perfect, right near many of sites: Magritte museum, mannekin pis, gayborhood, 10 minute walk to the train station to Brugges or /Ghent. No need to go out if you prefer, all kitchen amenities were there. Laundromat directly across the street.
Coffee, tea , light breakfast, juice , honey, peanut butter, croissants, waffles, crackers, chocolates and more were available 24/7.

What could be improved: The outdoor space could use a freshening up but it too provided refuge from the busy days tooling around the city. A mini-split would be a suggestion also

  • Exceptional – Virginia from Canada – 26 May 2025 (10/10)

Perfect location, very secure building, beautiful decor, warm welcome

  • I'd stay here every time – David from United Kingdom – 25 May 2025 (10/10)

Great host with Edmund. He couldn't do enough to help and was very personable. Even left me a birthday card and some chocolates for my birthday…and a couple of beers the day after (and remembered I'd said my missus liked fruit beer).
    Fantastic location.
    The bed was extremely comfy.
Free coffee and juices. And it's a bean to cup machine in the communal area, so a lot better than the usual instant/nespresso you normally get.

2 very friendly cats. My missus is no fan of cats, but actually loved the "tabby". We only saw the other cat once, but that was really friendly too.

The place is very secure, a locked gate on the outside, Edmund gives you the code on arrival. He also keeps you informed of any code change.

What could be improved: Could do with a better hairdryer, but I'm not knocking my 10/10 rating down just for that little matter.

  • Loved the place and will definitely stay there again! – Astrid from Portugal – 19 May 2025 (10/10)

The location is great and the Loft was amazing. A lot of space and there is free breakfast included.

  • Exceptional – Sandra from Sweden – 17 May 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful room and common area, stylish and unique furnishings.
The hosts were very nice and gave tips to places to visit. You could tell they really care about their guests and that you have a good stay.
