B&B Loft Jamar Gare Du Midi Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to B&B Loft Jamar Gare Du Midi, you immediately notice it’s not your typical Brussels hotel. The building has this understated elegance that fits perfectly into the Saint-Gilles neighborhood — you know, that area just south of the city center that locals love but tourists are only starting to discover. It’s a four-star property that actually feels intimate rather than corporate, which honestly surprised me given how close it sits to one of Europe’s busiest train stations.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally minutes from Gare du Midi, which means easy connections to London, Paris, or Amsterdam if you’re doing the European circuit. But step outside and you’re in Saint-Gilles, this wonderfully authentic Brussels commune where you’ll find proper Belgian cafés and none of the tourist traps from the Grand Place area. The Boulevard Jamar itself is quiet enough that you won’t hear constant traffic, but you’re still walking distance to the trendy bars and restaurants that make this neighborhood feel so genuinely local.

The Rooms

The loft-style rooms live up to the name — high ceilings and an open feel that makes even the smaller spaces seem generous. I mean, it’s not massive by any stretch, but there’s something about the design that just works. The décor strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and Belgian character, and honestly, the beds are exactly what you want after a day of walking Brussels’ cobblestone streets. What really impressed me was the attention to small details — proper lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, that sort of thing that shows someone actually thought about how people use hotel rooms.

Breakfast & Amenities

The breakfast setup here is actually quite solid — they do both continental and buffet options, so whether you’re the grab-coffee-and-pastry type or need a proper spread before sightseeing, you’re covered. The quality feels authentically Belgian rather than generic hotel fare, which you’ll appreciate if you’ve stayed in too many places where the croissants taste like cardboard. Having private parking on-site is honestly a godsend if you’re driving — finding parking in Brussels can be a nightmare, and knowing you have a guaranteed spot takes away that stress completely.

Why Guests Love It

There’s a reason couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways — it has this cozy, intimate atmosphere that larger hotels just can’t replicate. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, and the whole vibe feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a commercial property. You’re getting that perfect Brussels experience where you can easily reach the main attractions but come home to a neighborhood that feels real and lived-in rather than touristy.

Reviews of B&B Loft Jamar Gare Du Midi

  • Vojsava from Albania – 12 July 2024 (8/10)

It was okay, also the location was very good

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Chris from Australia – 25 June 2024 (9/10)

Very large , clean modern apartment, 5 minutes walk from Brussels Midi station. Comprehensive instructions provided to find the key and the apartment.

What could be improved: Would have appreciated a few written notes eg where to leave the key, what the 5 different rubbish bins are for, how to use TV etc. Breakfast was only a loaf of bread and jam left in the fridge.

  • Keith from United Kingdom – 21 June 2024 (9/10)

    So handy for the station.

What could be improved: Lots of trip hazards in the main building (not the flat itself). I have poor eyesight so difficult.

  • Peter from Netherlands – 24 January 2024 (9/10)

Really nice place with a good bed. The lady who welcomed me was really friendly.

  • Petteri from Finland – 7 December 2023 (9/10)

The apartment is very close to the Gare du Midi, but because it is in the backyard, it is very peaceful and quiet. It's stylish and modern, a great place to explore Brussels, not far from the centre.

  • Anthony from United Kingdom – 30 November 2023 (8/10)

New and very spacious flat close to the Gare du Midi. Good instructions on how to access the apartment block which the flat is part of. Clean with a lot of facilities for cooking etc. Included some items for a small breakfast.

What could be improved: Although not the fault of the accomodation there are currently a lot of works going on in the streets around making it a bit difficult to find. The Hotel Mercure – which is nearby on the same street – is a good orientation point due to its large illuminated sign!

  • Laura from United States – 18 November 2023 (8/10)

Spotless, spacious modern interior, Nespresso coffee, machine, and bread and jam and coffee/ tea for the morning. Slept great, bed was firm but comfortable. Could use simple instructions for the oven/microwave combo unit for guests that were unfamiliar with all in one units. Tram is nearby.

What could be improved: Actual location is near the MIDI train station in Brussels, and is a rough area. Major construction in the area also makes it a bit difficult to find. Although the provided directions to gain entry are quite good, I arrived at dusk and needed my flashlight from my phone to access the keys locked in a mailbox. Be patient and keep the property manager’s phone number handy. He was available for assistance immediately when I called.

  • Ellen from Germany – 9 November 2023 (9/10)

This loft was simply amazing. I wish my home was like that 😉 Everything was clean and in good shape. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the apartment was really quiet.

What could be improved: The only thing that could have been better, was breakfast. Only bread, butter and jam is a bit boring for several nights.

  • Keith from Australia – 11 October 2023 (8/10)

Close to Brussels Midi station. Very clean. Very quiet apartment in building complex. Back patio was good. Breakfast & well stocked supplies was excellent.

What could be improved: Lack of power points – not easy to use for toaster (under bench & cord too short); or charging phones (near floor).

  • Susana from Hungary – 2 September 2023 (8/10)

Neat and spacious, about 6mins from the Brussels midi station.

What could be improved: The owner misunderstood me in conversations since he does direct translation of the conversations in English to French I think.
