– – – – – Au Sixième Ciel – – – – – Overview

When I first stepped into Au Sixième Ciel, I was struck by the modern yet cozy vibe – you know, like walking into a designer’s home. Nestled on the 187 Rue du Progrès in Schaerbeek, this 4-star hotel boasts a 9.2 rating, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why. The location is spot on, just a stone’s throw from the bustling heart of Brussels, yet it feels like a serene retreat.

The rooms are spacious and sleek, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in an abundance of natural light. You’ll wake up to the hustle and bustle of the city below, but the soundproofing is impressive, so it’s peaceful enough for a good night’s sleep. I was particularly fond of the rainfall showerheads in the bathrooms – a little touch of luxury that makes a world of difference after a long day of sightseeing.

One thing that stood out to me was the staff’s attention to detail. Check-in was a breeze, and they even offered a quick rundown of the best local spots to grab a bite or a drink. Speaking of which, the hotel’s restaurant is a gem. They serve up a mean Belgian waffle for breakfast, and the dinner menu is a delightful mix of local and international cuisine. It’s worth noting that parking can be a bit tricky in this area, but the hotel offers valet service, which was a lifesaver.

If you’re looking for a base to explore Brussels from, Au Sixième Ciel is hard to beat. It’s a 10-minute walk to the European Parliament and a short tram ride to the Grand Place. During the summer months, the area around the hotel comes alive with locals and tourists alike, enjoying the outdoor cafes and street performers. But honestly, even in the quieter off-season, there’s a charm to this neighborhood that’s hard to resist.

In a nutshell, Au Sixième Ciel offers a blend of comfort, style, and convenience that’s tough to find. Whether you’re in Brussels for business or leisure, this hotel feels like a home away from home, with the added bonus of being in the heart of one of Europe’s most vibrant cities.

This apartment practically right outside Brussels Noordstation is great for visiting Brussels as well as using for a base to visit neighbouring towns. Both the train and Flix bus station were only steps away. We didn't try the buses but found it easy to take the train for day trips to Leuven and Ghent, and then onwards to Brugge (Bruges). The apartment itself is clean and has all the amenities for your stay, but the biggest asset is the accommodating and caring host. The kitchen is small but has a couple of burners and a good sized microwave. To illustrate Karim's hospitality, he not only forewarned us of an impending strike that could affect public transport, but also took the time to check out and inform us of our options. This is despite the fact that we would have been out of his apartment already. Navigating a foreign country is not always easy, especially when things are going awry. Getting help under such circumstances is amazing. We wholeheartedly agree with the accolades that were in previous reviews.

Karim is a wonderful person he provided ample information about the city and our options. The property is well situated close to rail station and metro. Clean and with a functional kitchen by the was good coffee.
I had the opportunity to see Karim mother so nice and helpful lady

  • Roberta from United Kingdom (10/10)

This is the cleanest property I've recently been to!! Furniture is a bit outdated but it has a lot of storage, kitchen and bathroom are fully equipped with everything you need (no washing machine though). It has a balcony overseeing the city and station (but there is no noise whatsoever) where we took our meals and relaxed. A lot of security doors at the entrance. Wifi works pretty well too. The host was super in reaching out, providing information and tips. Train station is across the road, so super easy to reach and move around and to go to city center.

  • Jaro from Slovakia (10/10)

The owner was super helpful and kind; for example, upon arrival, when I arrived after one in the morning due to a delay, he had no problem coming and accommodating me.

  • Monika from Poland (9/10)

The apartment is cosy, full equipped, good located- with very good transport options around (train & metro station 100m and many buses). Maybe all things inside are not new, but very clean. Very good place for 2 persons.
But the main asset is the host- Karim! He is really great, he took care about us many days before we came, gave us very useful advise how to get to the apartment. He was very flexible- it was a possibility for earlier checking in. In the fridge we found welcome beer and Karim gave us many tips where to go (oral and in prepared materials- also in our language)
Karim you are the best host ever!!!
